New Luas Line proposed for Inchicore

There are now plans to build a Luas station in the CIE Works, in addition to the Underground Dart station already proposed.
The Railway Procurement Agency says it wants to alter the route proposed for the planned new Luas line to connect Lucan with Dublin city centre.
The change would involve a deviation from the existing proposed route at Kylemore Park. Instead of heading south and then east along the canal to join the existing Tallaght line at the Blackhorse stop, the new line would head east from Kylemore into warehousing and then the CIE Works.
The Railway Procurement Agency has proposed the change in order to create an interchange with the planned new Dart. Originally, the Dart tunnel was supposed to end at Heuston, but under plans unveiled last year, Irish Rail is extending the tunnel to Inchicore and siting a station in the Works.
As a result, the RPA is amending its own plans to create the interchange between the two proposed lines.
Consultation evenings on the change are being held on Tuesday April 27th in Liffey Gaels GAA Club on Sarsfield Road, from 6-9 pm, and on Wednesday April 28th in the Oblate Hall on Tyrconnell Road, also from 6-9 pm.
