Lord Mayor lays Wreath at IslandbridgeArticle Posted: Wednesday 5th August, 2009
The 14th Annual Francis Ledwidge Festival took place in the National War Memorial Park in brilliant sunshine at Islandbridge on Sunday 2nd August. The Lord Mayor, Emer Costello read a poem by Francis Ledwidge called "The Meeting" and laid a wreath at the high cross. Poets and visitors came from far and near including places such as Donegal, Sussex and New York. The rose garden was in full bloom and the whole setting was very beautiful. A reception was later held in the Glen of Aherlow for all those attending.
