Veteran Labour councillor John Gallagher headed the poll in Dublin south-west inner city ward, which includes Inchicore.

Gallagher secured 1,574 first preferences, not far off the quota of 1,654. He was followed by Clare Byrne, daughter of TD Catherine, with 1,400 votes, and Labour stablemate Rebecca Moynihan with 1,315.

These three have been elected, along with Criona Ni Dhalaigh of Sinn Fein, who took the last seat.
