Gardai are investigating a botched tiger kidnapping of the postmistress in Inchicore.
The woman, in her 40s, was in her home in Palmerstown last week when three men wearing balaclavas burst into the house.
The three, one of whom was armed with a handgun, ordered the woman to lie on the floor, and told her that she was being held hostage at her home until she opened her post office the following morning and gave the gang cash.
But the outfit aborted the raid when they heard noises from another room in the house, caused by the woman's daughter moving around.
The three men fled. The postmistress was treated for shock after the incident but was not physically harmed.
