Roller Derby is a contact sport played on skates which is pretty big in Inchicore; training is every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday in the DCC.

According to Val, head of PR for Dublin Roller Derby, the sport is a relatively obscure one but it is a woman's sports league with three travelling teams as well as three home teams, all Father Ted themed (the Fupping Baxtards, The Whack Hacketts and the McShoves).

Val says the A Team is currently 60th in the world according to the Governing Body (WFTDA) rankings and avails of a lot of girls on Team Ireland, as well as members of Team Argentina and Team Italy.

Roller Derby are hosting their home team opener on Friday June 30th at 7pm at Good Counsel GAA, on Davitt Road (next to the Suir Road Luas stop).
Entrance is 8 and there is a bar on site.

Friday will see the McShoves take on the Whack Hacketts.
