Connolly Avenue 1931 - can you identify the children in the photograph?

Article Posted: Wednesday 10th September, 2014

This charming picture comes to us courtesy of Amanda O'Sullivan, whose grand aunt, Eileen Dobbyn, taught at the Model School in Inchicore.

Eileen lived at 74 Connolly Avenue, and the picture was taken in her front garden. Amanda has recently come across the photo and wonders if we can piece together who is in it. If any families would like a copy, she's happy to pass it on to them.

It shows a large number of children aged about 3 up to about 12 all in party hats.

The only information on the back is "Connolly Avenue 1931?" and "Martin Killoch (not very clear) standing 2nd on left" and "5th seated Tony Kavanagh".

Amanda says her grand aunt died back around 1987 and the last of her siblings who lived in the area, Dermot Dobbyn, died in 1999 and the house was then sold, so they have lost contact with Inchicore. However, there may be people who attended the model school who might have an interest and she would gladly make and send on some copies.

Please leave a message on the accompanying forum thread if you have any ideas as to who is in the picture. If you want to contact Amanda directly, you can email her on amandaosullivan (at) ymail.com.
