Catherine Byrne - Junior Minister
|Jim||20/05/2016||Anyone think the area could benefit a little more now that our local TD has become a junior minister. Surely gives Catherine extra firepower when trying to get things done in the area|
|Alan c||21/05/2016||I wouldn't be assuming that Jim, Byrne has previously been Lord Mayer of Dublin and representing the area since 1999.|
She has always supported the St Michaels regeneration board and similar local groups (canal communities) some of which might not have survived (funding wise) if she/ Fine Gael didn't.
As for an urban master plan or improvements to the built environment she has never pushed any of this as far as I can see.
It is however an opportunity for us to hold her to a higher expectation and put pressure on her to deliver more interns of infrastructure and village improvement along with the social support groups that she has traditionally supported.
Inchicore and Kilmainham have changed a lot in recent years and a little extra support from government could make the area one of the best places to live in Dublin city
It's certainly heading that way at a slow but steady pace.
She would be strongly anti-gentrification but that's not what's going on in the area and we need a bit of life back in the village
