Closure of Inchicore CDP
|Paul Cullen||26/11/2008||Inchicore Community Development Project issued the following statement today: |
"t is with much regret that I'm emailing you to inform you of the very imminent closure of Inchicore CDP. Due to funding difficulties, our core funders, the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs have advised us that they will not be in a position to renew their contract with the Project in 2009. In effect, this means that they will not be able to provide funding for staffing and other overheads costs next year. As a result, the Project will be closing for good on Friday 5th December 2008. I will be working with the Project until that date, and my colleague Emma will be finishing with the Project on Friday 28th November 2008.
As I'm sure you can imagine, both the Management Committee and staff of the Project were very shocked and very upset upon hearing the announcement, and very concerned about the future of the various groups that we work with and support. However, I can assure you that we are taking every step possible to ensure that the current work of the Project is not abandoned, and we are hoping that as much of the work as is possible can be absorbed and continued by other organisations and groups operating in the area.
Many thanks for all your help and advice in the past, and best wishes to each of you with your respective organisations in the future."
