vawn corrigan07/02/2011After running the Arts Club in Kilmainham for over a year and a half, the Club has expanded to take in another series of free events. We are experimenting with using The Patriots Inn back room for a variety of artistic events that would not normally take place in pubs at all. Firstly, a documentary and secondly a one-man play. The first of these is the free screening, on the big-screen, of documentary CIRCUS BORN February 10th 8.30pm. Fossets circus, Irelands national family circus is the oldest constantly touring circus in the world. It is presented by the filmaker Matt Skinner, followed by chat and music. The following thursday, February 17th writer, director and playwrite Peter Sheridan performs his one man play AN EVENING WITH PETER SHERIDAN from 8.30pm This funny, bizarre and moving journey through 1960's childhood is not to be missed. Peter is a really entertaining and warm person, the play is 85 minutes long. there is music by the talented classical guitarist Pat Coldrick before and after the show. this is an amazing chance to enjoy theatre in a relaxed, intimate environment, to chat with the artist and enjoy the atmosphere. although there is only a little stage, in an unassuming pub, the back room is perfect for generating a unique atmosphere . If these rather unusual events are succesful, The Kilmainham Arts Club is hoping to throw the Thursdays open to local filmakers and actors and writers to present their work in a programme of events which reflect the talent of the area. These events are free and open to all so it is a good opportunity to partake of things. any feedback is welcome, good wishes Vawn
