Underground Dart in Inchicore, consultation meeting, June 17th

Irish Rail are finally providing some details of their controversial plans to bring the Underground Dart project to Inchicore. The portal of the tunnel will be located in the CIE Works and the tunnel will pass under houses in the CIE Estate and neighbouring areas before heading into town. The proposal - and it is only a proposal at this stage - has caused huge concern in the CIE Estate, where residents are fearful of having to live through a five-year massive building site with little tangible gain for the area. An earlier consultation in May, held in the Hilton hotel in Kilmainham, answered few of residents' questions and Irish Rail have admitted that meeting was a disaster. Now their engineers are making a presentation in the CIE Sports and Social Club on Wednesday, 17th June. Information boards and drawing on the project can be viewed from 7 pm and Irish Rail staff will make a presentation at 8 pm, followed by questions and answers. This project could have a huge effect on our area so it is vital that local people attend.
