Patriots Inn,9pm LEO O’KELLY (of Tir Na N’Og) With Garvan Gallagher, renowned songwriter and guitarist swirling ambient rock Leo O'Kelly The album ‘Will’ is Leo's first for Life & Living Records. This is his third solo album, after Glare and Proto. Leo O'Kelly started his career in the 60s, first coming to public attention as a member of The Emmet Spiceland, a chart topping Irish folk trio, also featuring the illustrious Donal Lunny. In the 70s he founded the psych-folk duo, Tir na nOg, with Sonny Condell. They released three albums on Chrysalis Records, and were championed by John Peel soon after their arrival in London from Dublin in 1970. They subsequently recorded many John Peel sessions for the BBC, some of which have latterly been released on CD. Tir na nOg have recently recorded ‘Live At Sirius’, which is also available on Life & Living Records. Leo's music has never been easily categorised, and that's just the way he likes it! The new album ‘Will’ is his first ever collaboration with a lyricist. John McKeown is a Liverpool poet with four collections of his work already published, his latest being ‘Night Walk’, from Salmon Poetry. The collaboration between John and Leo began over two years ago, after they met in Dublin, with Leo setting John's dark and obsessive poems of love and desire to music, culminating in the songs on this album.
